What does Tierney Brothers Building & Construction do?
Tierney Brothers builds premium custom homes, new homes, renovations, extensions, pools and outdoor spaces.
We can also assist with excavation, concreting, landscaping, carpentry, project management and site supervision, depending on the project.
Our work is focused on custom residential building for clients who want a high-quality finish and a builder who can help bring the whole project together.
Where do you work?
We primarily work across Ipswich, Brisbane and the Lockyer Valley.
We also consider selected projects across the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast for clients looking for a premium custom builder with a hands-on approach.
Do you only build luxury homes?
We focus on premium custom building, but that does not mean every project looks the same.
The best fit for us is a client who values craftsmanship, personalised service and a finished result that feels beyond an off-the-shelf build. That may be a new custom home, a major renovation, an extension, a pool or a complete outdoor space.
What makes Tierney Brothers different?
We are laidback custom builders, but we take the quality of the work seriously.
Rather than taking on too many jobs at once, we prefer to keep our project load manageable. This allows us to stay across the details, communicate clearly and give each build the attention it deserves.

Who owns Tierney Brothers?
Tierney Brothers Building & Construction is led by Rhys and BJ Tierney.
The business was started with a simple goal: to build beautiful custom homes that clients are proud to live in.
Getting Started
Do I need plans before contacting you?
No. You can contact us at any stage.
Some clients come to us with detailed plans ready to go. Others have a block of land, a rough idea or a list of things they want to achieve. Both are completely fine.
If you do not have plans yet, we can help you understand what needs to happen next and connect you with designers or architects where needed.
Can you help us work out what is possible?
Yes.
If you are unsure what can be done with your block, existing home or outdoor space, we can start with a conversation about your goals, budget, site and priorities.
From there, we can help you understand what may be involved before the project moves forward.
What should we have ready before our first conversation?
You do not need to have everything sorted before speaking with us.
If you have them, it can be helpful to share:
- Your project location
- The type of project you are planning
- Whether you own the property or block
- Any plans, drawings or ideas
- Your rough budget or investment range
- Your ideal timeline
- The main things you want the finished home or space to achieve.
If you are still early in the process, we can guide the conversation from there.
Can you connect us with a designer or architect?
Yes.
If your project needs design support, we can help connect you with designers, architects or consultants before the build begins.
This helps make sure the design, site and building expectations are working together early in the process.
Can you manage the whole project?
Yes, depending on the project.
We can help from early consultation through to design connections, excavation, site preparation, construction, pool building, concreting, landscaping and final finishes.
Our goal is to help the project feel more organised, connected and manageable from start to finish.
Custom Homes & New Home Builds
Do you build custom homes?
Yes.
We build custom homes for clients who want something personal, polished and designed around their land, lifestyle and long-term plans.
Our custom home projects are suited to people who want more flexibility and a higher level of finish than an off-the-shelf home design can offer.
Do you build new homes from bare sites?
Yes.
We can build new homes from bare sites and help manage the work from early site preparation through to construction and finishing details.
Where required, we can also assist with excavation, concreting, landscaping, pools and outdoor areas so the property feels complete.
Can you build from plans we already have?
Yes.
If you already have plans drawn, we can review the project, talk through the build and help you understand the next steps.
We can also discuss how the home will work with the block, outdoor spaces, pool areas or other features you want included.
Can you include a pool or landscaping with a new home build?
Yes.
Many of our clients want the whole property to feel connected from the beginning. We can assist with pool building, concrete works, pool surrounds, landscaping and outdoor spaces as part of a broader new home build.
Do you work with project-home designs?
Our work is best suited to clients who want a more custom result.
If you are looking for a high-volume, off-the-shelf building experience, we may not be the right fit. If you want a premium home shaped around your block, lifestyle and level of finish, we would be happy to talk.
Renovations & Extensions
Do you build complete home renovations?
Yes.
We complete premium home renovations for clients who want to improve the way their existing home looks, feels and functions.
This may include reworking living areas, updating older spaces, improving indoor-outdoor flow or completing a larger home transformation.
Do you build home extensions?
Yes.
We build home extensions for clients who need more space but do not want to leave the home, block or area they love.
Extensions may include larger living areas, extra bedrooms, improved outdoor connection, structural work, carpentry, concreting, internal finishes and exterior detailing.
Can you make an extension feel like it belongs with the existing home?
That is always the aim.
A strong extension should not feel tacked on. We look at how the new work connects with the existing structure, rooflines, materials, layout, finishes and outdoor areas so the finished result feels natural to the home.
Can you help us decide whether to renovate, extend or rebuild?
Yes.
If you are unsure which direction makes the most sense, we can talk through your goals, the current home, the block, your budget and what you want the finished property to feel like.
From there, we can help you understand which option may be worth exploring further.
Can we live in the home during a renovation or extension?
This depends on the size and type of project.
Some renovation and extension work may allow you to stay in the home, while larger or more disruptive projects may require other arrangements. We can talk through what is practical once we understand the scope of work.

Do you build pools?

Can you complete pool surrounds and outdoor areas?
Yes.
We can assist with pool surrounds, concreting, landscaping coordination, outdoor areas and finishing details so the space feels complete rather than added on at the end.
Can you include landscaping as part of the project?
Yes.
Landscaping can be included as part of a new home, renovation, extension, pool build or complete outdoor transformation.
For many clients, landscaping is what brings the full property together and helps the home feel finished from front to back.
Can you help with excavation and site preparation?
Yes.
We can assist with excavation and early site works as part of larger building, pool, landscaping or outdoor projects.
Getting involved early helps us understand the site and how each stage of the project will connect.
Do you offer concreting?
Yes.
We can assist with concreting as part of broader residential building and outdoor projects. This may include driveways, pathways, pool surrounds, outdoor areas and related hard surfaces.
Process & Communication
How does the building process work?
Every project is different, but the process generally begins with a conversation about your site, ideas, budget and goals.
From there, we may help with planning and design support, site preparation, construction, outdoor works and final finishes.
The aim is to guide you from early ideas through to a finished result with clear communication at each stage.
Will we know what is happening during the build?
Yes.
Clear communication is a big part of how we work. We want clients to feel comfortable asking questions and understanding what is happening throughout the build.
You will not be left feeling like you have been passed through a system.
Do you work on many projects at once?
We prefer to take on a manageable number of projects at a time.
This helps us stay hands-on, maintain quality and give each project the attention it deserves.
What if things change during the project?
Custom building often requires flexibility.
We are adaptable and practical in the way we work. If something changes or a decision needs to be made, we will talk it through clearly and help you understand the options.

Do you work with realistic budgets?
